Entrepeneur and venture capitalist Guy Kawasaki kicks off the first AIE Imaging Executive podcast with a discussion on the basics of entrepeneurship, new models of the internet business, and what it takes to compete in the next wave of the Internet. Hosted by Paul Worthington, editor of The Future Image Report, the new weekly podcast offers leadership insights and a glimpse at the future of imaging. Weekly podcast interviews with leading experts, as well as the editors of PMA magazine and The Future Image Report, provide industry leaders with insight into management practices and relevant discussions about innovative technology.
“Every company will have an aspect of media to it,” says Kawasaki in the podcast. “I don’t know if it’s true everywhere, but in particular, in Silicon Valley, you always want to be something you’re not. All the hardware companies say, ‘I want to be a media company.’ . Probably, there is someone inside Sony Music saying, ‘Wouldn’t it be great to be Apple. We could sell something solid . and nobody could illegally copy it.’ Many media companies wish they could sell something that can’t be ripped off, and many hardware companies wish to sell something that has no cost of goods sold and no inventory carrying costs.”
Kawasaki will be the keynote presenter at the 6Sight® Future of Imaging Conference, at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at the Portola Hotel & Spa, Monterey, Calif. The 6Sight conference is co-produced by Future Image Inc. and the Association of Imaging Executives (AIE), a PMA member association of photo imaging leaders who shape the strategic growth of the global imaging industry.
Upcoming Imaging Executive podcasts will include Mark Leonard, president of Dodd Camera; Kerul Kassel, author of the book “Productive Procrastination“; and workplace experts Jane Weiss of the Great Place to Work Institute Inc. and Mary Corbitt Clark of Winning Workplaces .
