Allow myself to introduce….myself.

April 9th, 2008 by RobertH · No Comments · Imaging Industry

My name is Robert, and I work for Ritz Camera Centers here in Dallas, Texas.  I started with the company back in 2000, 8 years ago as a lab tech/sales “floater”.  I worked my way up to management and managed a couple of stores, but stepped down to do what I do best-camera sales.

Hard to believe, but when I started working for Ritz, the digital revolution was just starting, and no one knew for sure where it was going to ultimately lead.  Only 8 years ago, I was selling 2 megapixel cameras that were the size of a small brick, cost $1000, and probably got 50 shots per battery change.  Not to mention memory cards.  Gigabite cards didn’t exist, and 256mb cards were $70.  Wow!  How things have changed!  What you can get for a mere $199 is amazing and you can now get a 1 Gig card for $20.  That’s what I love about this business, it’s ever changing, and keeps me on my toes.  Before Ritz, I worked in other big box stores, selling DVD players for $400 that you can now buy for $69.99.

Alas, this is the fate of every type of electronic device.  Something new and exciting comes out, and it’s expensive, then more manufactures start making the same thing, prices lower, then something even more exciting comes out and prices lower even further.  Then something drastic happens: a change in format.  Only 10 years ago, the digital revolution started.  VHS went to DVD.  Film started transitioning to digital, camcorders have gone from analog tapes, to digital tapes, to DVDs, to Hard Disc Drives, to solid state memory, to High Definition.  And that’s where we’re at now…High Def.

That’s what separates us from the rest here at Ritz Camera Centers, we are specialist that will match you with what best suits your needs.  From the Camera to the final print, from the camcorder to the TV, we are there with you from start to finish.

Please, feel free to leave your comments on any of my (hopefully) many posts.
