This month, PMA Magazine - Connecting the Imaging Communities features a look at the new concept store platform from national book chain, Borders Inc. The Ann Arbor, Mich.-concept store added photo printing and photo book services to its revamped digital media offerings in the nearly 30,000-square-foot store. (Additional Borders concept stores are also open elsewhere in the United States.)
Other June issue highlights include a two-part article about scanning opportunities. “Tale of two scanners” features two start-ups, ScanCafe and ScanDigital, who have very different approaches to having consumers convert their negatives, prints, and slides to digital formats. “Vantastic scanning” describes Laura Eagin’s year-long trek accross the United States, operating a mobile scanning business out of her van.
“Express Yourself” describes the creation of the Digital Photography Group within  AG Interactive, the digital arm of America Greetings Corp., Cleveland, Ohio.
“Rolling with it” looks at how leading professional lab Miller’s Professional Imaging embraces the digital age, not only to its core portrait photographer clientele, but also to a new wave of advanced amateurs through the Mpix service.
PMA members and subscribers should be receiving their issue in the mail this week.
